I am not winning because of Anna: Bishnoi

Hisar (Haryana): As he raced towards victory in the Hisar Lok Sabha by-election, Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) candidate Kuldeep Bishnoi said Monday that he owed nothing to Team Anna.

"I attribute it only to my father and the (alliance with) BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)," Bishnoi told reporters here, as officials placed him on the victory lap over his nearest rival.

My father has done a lot for Hisar and Haryana, he said, adding the contest was only between him and INLD’s Ajay Chautala.

By the time Team Anna began campaigning in Hisar against the Congress for its refusal to back the Jan Lokpal Bill, people had decided to vote for him, he said.

He further stated that Team Anna was not supporting him, but was only against Congress.

Bishnoi, son of former Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal, added that he respected anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare and would vote for the Jan Lokpal Bill in Parliament.

Respected Bishnoiji, It is unfair to say that you did not win because of Anna`s appeal to people not to vote for Congress if they don`t pass the Lok Pal Bill.With due respects to late Bansilalji,notwithstanding being a veteran Congress leader, he formed his own party because he was not named as CM, if what I learn from his biography on the inter net is correct.Thus people of Haryana , knowing this background have still voted for you because of the Anna factor.

Mr. Sapthagireesan, You either a political lame or politically blind. The Hisar seat had fallen vacant in June following the death of Bhajan Lal, a three-time chief minister and Mr. Bishnoi is the son of former Bhajan Lal. You are talking about Bansilal and connecting with Mr. Bishnoi shows your poor knowledge and unawareness of politics specially about the one you commented. Anyways, even being a layman one can understand that Bishnoi was fighting by election for the seat that has been vacated after his father`s demise in June 2011 and the sympathy for him was running all around HISAR. Apart from the said sympathy which is usual for us while casting our vote in India, we must not forget that his father Bhajanlal was 3 times chief minister and has certainly done a lot for HISAR. Therefore, what BISHNOI is saying is true, he never required TEAM ANNA`s support for winning the by election in HISAR after his father`s demise. Its not a surprise, the surprise was if CONGRESS had defeated BISHNOI there. Despite of CONGRESS government in HARYANA, the CONGRESS party was unable to win HISAR election in 2009. This is the kind of hold Mr. Bhajan lal had on his constituency and his son`d first election after his father`s death was obvious for him to win on the ground of sympathy and certainly on the good work his father has done for the constituency.

I certainly appreciate BISHNOI to come out with an honest comment. he is right to say that TEAM ANNA has added no feather in his cap because by the time TEAM ANNA landed in HISAR, the fielding was all set, PEOPLE of HISAR had already made up their mind and the credit of TEAM ANNA for the defeat of CONGRESS in HISAR is mere a propaganda.
