Chandigarh: A 15-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly murdered and buried by her uncle near Haryana`s Panchkula district, with police suspecting it to be a case of dishonour killing.

The girl, a Muslim hailing from UP`s Muzaffarnagar, had been sent by her parents to stay at her uncle`s house in Barwala of Panchkula near here to prevent her from meeting the boy with whom she was having a love affair, police said.

The body, which was exhumed yesterday from Khangesra village, appeared to have been buried several days ago. Some clothes of the victim were also found in the fields close by.

The girl`s family had reached Panchkula from UP after failing to establish contact with her for past several days.

On questioning, the girl`s uncle Salim allegedly confessed to have killed the girl and buried her.

He allegedly told the girl`s parents that the boy from whom they wanted to keep her away had managed to reach here, following which he along with an accomplice had murdered her, police said.

The body has been sent to PGIMS at Rohtak for post-mortem examination.
