Ahmedabad: Swine flu claimed 12 more lives in Gujarat today, taking the toll to 167 since January this year.

Apart from these deaths, 255 new cases of swine flu have been recorded across the state today, taking the total number of cases to 2191 so far, an official press release said.

"Gujarat has reported 12 swine flu deaths, taking the total number of deaths to 167, while 255 new H1N1 cases were reported today," it said.

Of the 12 deaths, four were recorded in Ahmedabad district, two each in Vadodara, Gandhinagar and Kutch while one death each in Surat and Bhavnagar districts, it added.

Ahmedabad district saw a steep rise in swine flu cases as 129 patients have been admitted in different hospitals today.
