Kochi: Brain dead man's organs donated

A 50-year-old man, declared brain dead following a road accident, gave a new lease of life to two others with his kidneys and cornea being harvested for transplantation.

Kochi: A 50-year-old man, declared brain dead following a road accident, gave a new lease of life to two others with his kidneys and cornea being harvested for transplantation.

Despite their grief, wife and two children of Sajikumar of Alapuzha District decided to donate his organs following which they were harvested.

Sajikumar had suffered severe head injuries when he was hit by a car on Dec 26 at Thookukulam.

He was admitted to the Lakeshore Hospital here in a critical condition and declared brain dead after two days.

A 38-year-old patient from Thrissur was one of the recipients of kidneys. The cornea have been sent to the Little flower eye bank.
