Swine flu on Tuesday claimed five more lives in Gujarat, taking the toll since the start of the year to 397, a health department release said here.

Ahmedabad: Swine flu on Tuesday claimed five more lives in Gujarat, taking the toll since the start of the year to 397, a health department release said here.

Besides, 40 new cases of H1N1 virus infection were detected in the state today, taking the number of confirmed cases to 6,226.

"A death each was reported in Ahmedabad, Kutch, Kheda, Banaskantha, and Gir-Somnath districts today," said the release.

As many as 5,438 swine flu patients have been cured so far. "143 patients were discharged today," said the release.
