Washington: Weightloss surgery or gastric banding can play a crucial role in the treatment of type 2 diabetes in people who are overweight. This information was a part of the research which was conducted by Monash University.
Paul O'Brien said that they have found that treatment of type 2 diabetes in overweight people by substantial weight loss is safe and hugely beneficial.
It was found out that there was a strong relationship between the amount of weight loss and remission of diabetes, clearly showing that successful ways of reducing weight such as gastric banding should have a high priority in the treatment of diabetes.
