Shimla: Kick-starting BJP’s poll campaign in Himachal Pradesh, senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Thursday hit out at the Central government over the Coalgate scam.

Swaraj said the Congress government did not even spare ‘Pataal’ and sold coal buried there. She was referring to the massive Rs 1.86 lakh crore coal blocks allocation scam.

Further attacking the Congress, Swaraj said ‘money doesn’t grow on trees but in Congress’ pockets’.

It may be noted that while defending the recent economic reforms measures, Prime Minister had said that “money doesn’t grow on trees”.

She also touched upon the issue of inflation. “Prices skyrocket whenever the Congress comes to power,” the BJP leader said.

Importantly, she defended party president Nitin Gadkari over corruption allegations, and said he has not been hiding. “He has explained himself on many television channels” she stated.
