New Delhi: Pakistan's Premier Nawaz Sharif on Thursday called up his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and expressed his condolences on the loss of lives in various parts of India due to the powerful earthquake that jolted Nepal on Saturday last week.
PM Modi today took to twitter to confirm the development.
“Got a call from PM Nawaz Sharif. He expressed condolences on the loss of lives in various parts of India due to the Earthquake,” the PM tweeted this morning.

During the telephonic conversation, the Pakistani leader appreciated India's efforts in rescue operations in Nepal. On his turn, PM Modi thanked Sharif for appreciating the rescue efforts of the Indian government in Nepal.

During his talks with the Pakistani leader, PM Modi suggested that SAARC nations should conduct regular joint exercises on disaster relief and rescue teams, doctors on how to minimise damage during natural disasters.

Nawaz Sharif appreciated the suggestions given by PM Modi and said that the two countries should take up such an initiative.
The two leaders also discussed the unseasonal rains and its adverse impact on the crops in both countries.

During his brief telephonic conversation with PM Nawaz Sharif, PM also reportedly raised the issue of 26/11 attacks mastermind and JuD chief Hafiz Saeed and demanded Pakistan government to hand him over to the India at the earliest.
