Srinagar: A soldier was martyred and at least four terrorists killed in an ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

The soldier succumbed to his injuries sustained during the Army's operation to prevent militants from infiltrating into India from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector of Kashmir.

Army soldiers had spotted terrorists across the LoC who were aiming to sneak into the Indian territory.

They engaged the militants in a gunbattle and terminated four of them.

The operation was still underway when the reports last came in.

Just three days ago, the Army had foiled a similar attempt along the LoC.

On Tuesday, a soldier and a militant were killed after an infiltration bid was foiled in Machhil sector of Kupwara district.
