Jammu: Amid tight security a batch of 2,084 pilgrims on Friday left the Jammu base camp for the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.
Escorted by CRPF jawans, the pilgrims, including 1,362 men, 462 women, 66 children and 194 sadhus left in a cavalcade of 88 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at around 0530 hours for Amarnath, police said.
With today`s batch, as many as 50,442 pilgrims have left Jammu in 15 batches for their onward journey to the to the 13,500-feet cave shrine.
