Srinagar: Hardline Hurriyat Conference
on Thursday claimed that the government was not allowing peaceful
political activities in Jammu and Kashmir and termed the
appointment of interlocutors as an `eyewash`.
"Home Minister P Chidambaram had talked about giving
permission for peaceful political activities but nothing of
the sort is visible on the ground as the government is not
ready to provide political space," hardline Hurriyat leader
Syed Ali Shah Geelani said in a statement here.
Geelani said that "by not allowing peaceful political
activities and also continued detention of political leaders
have exposed that the appointment of interlocutors was
just an eye-wash".
