Jammu: Welcoming the Defence Ministry`s
decision to allow a CBI probe into the Srinagar land scam, BJP
on Wednesday claimed that it was the party leadership`s efforts that
had brought this development.
"We welcomed the decision of Defence Ministry to probe
the Srinagar land scam and hand over its inquiry to CBI. This
is a compliment to senior BJP leaders who had led a party
delegation to A K Antony and provided him with documentary
evidence involving defence land," party spokesperson Jitendra
Singh said in a statement here.
Singh, who is also convenor of the party`s state Scam
Committee, said it is also a major breakthrough for the
Committee that had pursued the case.
Last month, the BJP leadership had released a booklet in
New Delhi and Jammu giving details of how 200 acre land, worth
Rs 1,000 crore, were sold out without obtaining mandatory No
Objection Certificate (NOC).
