CRPF has set up intelligence units at battalion level in Jammu and Kashmir to gather inputs for its joint operations in the state.

Jammu: CRPF has set up intelligence units at battalion level in Jammu and Kashmir to gather inputs for its joint operations in the state.

"We have set up intelligence gathering units at battalions in Jammu and Kashmir. The intelligence inputs would make our operation very effective and deal with the emerging
situations," Special Director General of CRPF N K Tripati told.

Four to five persons will form a team and work as an intelligence gathering unit in Kashmir valley, he said.
Around 70,000 CRPF personnel have been deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, the highest in the country.
The CRPF, established in 1939 with just one battalion, has presently 210 battalions and is the large paramilitary force in the world, Tripati said.
