Encounter in Doda; Hizb militant held with arms

Jammu: Security forces are engaged in a
gunbattle with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants at Manwal area
in Doda district, even as one militant of the group was
arrested from Ramban district Saturday.

Following information on presence of ultras, a cordon-and
-search operation was launched by army and police in Manwal
area of in Gandoh this evening, official sources told a news agency.
During searches, militants fired on the forces, which
retaliated. Two militants of HM are trapped in the cordon,
they said.

In a separate raid, troops arrested an HM militant
identified as Abdul Gaffar Naik from Koot Khari area in
Banihal tehsil of Ramban district. One pistol, 17 rounds, one
grenade and some detonators were recovered from him, they
said.
