Govt wants to promote pilgrim tourism in J&K

The Jammu and Kashmir Government wants to promote pilgrim tourism in the state and has taken up various schemes to strengthen the infrastructure in Amarnath Yatra circuit, the state assembly was informed on Tuesday.

Replying to a question of Naresh Kumar Gupta in the
Legislative Council, Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora said
government was paying special attention to the promotion and
development of pilgrim tourism in the state.

He said schemes were taken up under state plan and the
government has submitted various projects to the Union
Ministry of Tourism for approval.

The government is strengthening the infrastructure in
Amarnath Yatra circuit. Temporary camps and other facilities
would be set up for the pilgrims. The cave shrine of Shiv
Khori in Reasi is being developed at a cost of Rs 4.11 crore.

The Amarnath Yatra would begin on July 1.
