Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government has sought from the Centre over Rs 211 crore for providing relief to drought-hit farmers in the state.
"A relief demand of Rs 211.28 crore has been submitted to the Centre for drought-affected farmers in the state," Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said today.
Replying to a question in the Legislative assembly here, he said the comprehensive relief package was formulated after conducting a special survey in all areas and the losses have been worked out through joint departmental teams under the supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners and Tehsildars.
Replying to supplementaries, the Minister said 18 districts have been declared drought-hit and a special survey of the losses in these districts have been worked out for financial assistance.
He assured the members that necessary financial assistance to all affected farmers, whose crops were damaged by drought and extensive rains, would be provided after receiving financial assistance from the Centre.
