J&K bans telecast of 2 cable TV networks in Ramban

The District Election Officer of Ramban, Farooq Shah on Tuesday banned two local cable networks in Banihal after he received complaints that these two networks were working on the behest of a political party.​

Ramban: The District Election Officer of Ramban, Farooq Shah on Tuesday banned two local cable networks in Banihal after he received complaints that these two networks were working on the behest of a political party.

"Two local private cable networks Khan Digital Vision and Friends Cable Network have been banned, after complaints came in that these channels were used by a particular political party," DEO Ramban Farooq Shah said.

The Sub Divisional Police Officer, Banihal, has been ordered to seize the equipment of the KDV and Friends Network with immediate effect.

The DEO said it was found that the two networks were found giving prominent coverage to a particular party.

"The networks were banned after the cable operators were found to have violated the Cable Television Network Regulations Act 1995" the DEO said.
