Lok Adalat settles 82 cases, awards Rs 52 lakh as compensation

Lok Adalat, which has turned out to be an effective way for quicker disposal of cases, was held by the District Legal Service Authority of Srinagar.

Srinagar: As many as 82 cases were settled
amicably during a Lok Adalat held here which awarded Rs 52
lakh as compensation in various motor accident incidents, an
official spokesman said Saturday.

The Lok Adalat, which has turned out to be an effective
way for quicker disposal of cases, was held here yesterday by
the District Legal Service Authority of Srinagar under the
supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge,
Srinagar, the spokesman said.

He said 82 cases were decided amicably on the spot while
an amount of Rs 52 lakh was awarded as compensation in various
motor accident cases.

Fines worth Rs 46,000 were also recovered from parties
involved in various criminal cases, he said.
