Srinagar: A man was sentenced to seven years
of rigorous imprisonment by a local court for raping a
minor girl.
Principal District and Session Judge B L Bhat yesterday
also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on the accused.
The Judge ordered further three month`s imprisonment
in case he fails to pay the fine.
A minor girl from Goripora in Safakadal area of the
city had filed a police complaint in September 2000 accusing
one Mir of kidnapping and raping her.
The prosecution had sought life imprisonment for the
accused.
