Militant hideout busted in J&K's Reasi, arms, ammunition recovered

The security forces on Thursday busted a militant hideout and recovered arms and ammunition from the higher reaches of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.

Jammu: The security forces on Thursday busted a militant hideout and recovered arms and ammunition from the higher reaches of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.

"Based on specific information the troops of 61 Rashtriya Rifles and JK Police (Arnas) under the aegis of Uniform Force Headquarters Reasi launched an operation and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in higher reaches of Lapri Forest today" Udhampur based defense spokesman Col S D Goswami said.

One AK-56 rifle with 31 rounds, a Chinese pistol, one hand grenade, and other war like stores were recovered from the hideout.

He said that the troops marched over a long distance in inclement weather to carry out the search of the forested area and recovered the cache hidden underground.

"The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Talwara has relentlessly been pursuing counter terrorist operations to maintain peace and stability in the region" he added.
