Srinagar: A police constable was gunned down by separatist guerrillas in Jammu and Kashmir`s Sopore town Wednesday morning, police said.
According to police, the guerrillas escaped after firing at the constable near the local college in north Kashmir`s Sopore town, 54 km from here, in Baramulla district.
"Constable Manzoor Ahmad died even before he could be taken to hospital for treatment," a police officer said.
No guerrilla group has yet taken responsibility for the killing.
A trader from the same town was gunned down by suspected guerrillas in the heart of capital Srinagar Monday.
