Missing man`s body found in Shopian

Police on Saturday recovered the body of man missing for the past two weeks from a village in Shopian district of south Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

Srinagar: Police on Saturday recovered the body of
man missing for the past two weeks from a village in Shopian
district of south Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

"The body of 25-year-old Rashid Ahmad Ganai was recovered
from Padpawan area of Shopian. He was missing for the last 15
days," the spokesman said.

He said the deceased was an employee in Sericulture
Department. A missing report had earlier been lodged with
police and a search operation was launched.

During the investigation, certain leads were followed
including those provided by Ganai`s mobile phone, the
spokesman said adding police is also looking into a possible
love angle.

"The body bore visible torture marks and it is apprehended
that he could have been beaten up before being murdered," he
said.
