Prove allegation or quit assembly seat: Minister to Mehbooba

Jammu: Terming PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti
as a "liar", senior NC leader and Law Minister Ali Mohammad
Sagar on Wednesday challenged her to prove her allegation that the
Omar Abdullah government had set up a counter-insurgency stone
pelting squad or else quit her assembly seat.

"I have challenged her on the floor of the assembly to
prove her allegation. If this is true, I will resign from my
post or else she should quit her assembly seat.

"Let her prove what she is saying," Sagar, the Law and
Parliamentary Affairs Minister, told a press conference here.
Sagar had challenged Mehbooba while making a statement
on the killing of an infant during protests by stone-pelters
in Baramulla district recently.

Earlier talking to reporters outside the House, the
PDP president had alleged the Abdullah government had set up a
counter-insurgency stone-pelting force.

"We say in clear words we reject her charge. What the
government has to do with the stone-pelting squad?" asked the
Minister.

Slamming Mehbooba, he said "she is good at telling
lies. When she claimed on the floor of the House that the
Indus Water Treaty was mooted by late Sheikh Abdullah, she was
snubbed by her father and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad
Sayeed. Later, she said sorry."

"She has been trained to tell lies. She is a liar,"
he said.

"We will unmask those who are financing stone-pelters.
They will be exposed in public very soon," Sagar said.

"We will not let a handful of stone-pelters and their
mentors to keep Kashmir hostage to their whims and fancies,"
he said.
