Jammu: Terming it as "an exercise to weaken
the ruling NC-Congress alliance" in Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy
Chief Minister Tara Chand on Monday refuted a media report about
seven Congress legislators tendering resignations over their
demand for rotational chief ministership in the state.

"It is totally wrong that some Congress legislators,
including five ministers, have tendered resignation to the
party high command (over the rotational CM issue)...It is a
futile exercises by some forces to weaken the NC-Congress
alliance by spreading rumours," he said.

Firmly backing the ruling alliance, the Congress leader
said the question of rotational chief ministership is not
under consideration and his party stood firmly behind the
coalition government in the state.

Congress workers had raked up the issue of rotational
Chief Minister with AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi during
his recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
