Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday said tourism policies should be formulated keeping in mind the need to preserve the natural beauty and ecological balance in the state.

"Development plans should necessarily subscribe to the need to preserve the beauty and ecological balance of tourist places and new circuits being upgraded to showcase areas for tourism," he said, adding, conservation of eco-balance is "our national duty".

Chairing the 14th meeting of Patnitop Development Authority (PDA) here, the Chief Minister said Jammu and Kashmir is a state of tourism and its economy and development is related to this sector.

"When we preserve the beauty of our tourist places only then people from all over the World would like to visit this place", he said.
