Two policemen injured in grenade attack

Two policemen and another man were injured in a grenade attack by militants in Batamaloo area in Srinagar.

Srinagar: Two policemen and another man
were injured on Monday in a grenade attack by militants in
Batamaloo area in Srinagar, officials said.

Militants hurled a grenade towards the police
personnel, belonging to traffic wing, near fire brigade
headquarters at around 7.25 pm.

An assistant sub-inspector, a constable and a civilian
were injured in the explosion and were rushed to a nearby
hospital.

The injured civilian was identified as Assistant
Engineer Showkat Ali Khan, who received splinter injuries in
the head and is stated to be in critical condition, they said.

Security forces launched a hunt for the militants. No
militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so
far.
