Ranchi: The BJP today demanded fresh Assembly
elections to install a popular government in President`s
rule-bound Jharkhand.
"President`s rule means central rule and the Congress
is ruling the state. So elections are necessary for
(installing) a popular government," BJP leader Murli Manohar
Joshi said at a press conference here.
He, however, evaded questions whether his party was not
responsible for imposition of President`s rule, saying, "You
(mediapersons) know the sequence very well."
Jharkhand came under President`s rule on June 1 after no
party staked claim for formation of a new government after JMM
President Shibu Soren quit as Chief Minister, a day before he
was to prove his majority in the House.
