The Jharkhand government on Saturday announced a new scheme for the Naxal-affected areas in the state.

announced a new scheme for the Naxal-affected areas in the
state.
As per the scheme `Operation Nai Disha`, Maoists who
surrendered with rocket launchers or machine guns would get Rs
one lakh and those who surrendered with AK-series rifle would
get Rs 75,000, Jharkhand DGP Neyaz Ahmed told reporters here.

Similarly, between Rs 15,000 and Rs 2,000 would be paid
for IED or explosive material, wireless sets, remote control,
grenades, pistols, revolvers and rifles, he said.

Police would inform the people in the Naxal-hit districts
of the various development and surrender packages initiated by
the government for the rebels.
Surrendered Maoists would be provided security and their
families relocated to a safe place while employment could also
be provided, he said.
