Ranchi: Transport services continued to be
affected in the rural areas as the CPI (Maoist)`s 48-hour
shutdown entered the second day today with no untoward
incident reported from anywhere in Jharkhand.
Long distances buses kept off the road for the second
successive day while the railways have already cancelled or
diverted several trains to avoid any untoward incidents,
according to reports.
Loading and unloading of minerals have also been affected
with truckers suspending their service, the reports added.
Life in urban areas remained normal, sources said.
The shutdown will end at midnight tonight.
The security forces have been manning strategic locations
like national highways and railway tracks in naxal pockets.
This is the fourth 48-hour shutdown called by the Maoists
in Jharkhand this year.
