Munda sacks 40 engineers; implements 6th pay commission

The newly sworn-in Arjun Munda government in Jharkhand on Saturday terminated services of 40 engineers on graft charges and implemented the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission for the state`s university teachers.

Ranchi: The newly sworn-in Arjun Munda government in Jharkhand on Saturday terminated services of 40 engineers on graft charges and implemented the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission for the state`s university teachers.

"Providing a transparent government is on our agenda. We have terminated services of 40 engineers involved in graft cases. Corruption will not be tolerated at any cost," Munda told reporters after the first cabinet meeting.

"The focus of first cabinet meeting was how to deal with the drought situation. The state contingency fund has been hiked from Rs 150 crore to Rs 750 crore and Rs 123 crore will be distributed to farmers under crop insurance schemes in next 15 days," he said.

The government will convene an all-party meeting to discuss the drought situation, he said.

The university teachers have been given pay scales suggested by the Sixth Pay Commission pay scale as per recommendation of the University Grants Commission.

"Providing a stable and responsible government is on our agenda," Munda said.
