Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibte Razi Thursday urged Maoists to shut violence.

Chief Minister Arjun Munda hoisted the tricolour in the state's second capital Dumka.

In Ranchi, the entry of heavy vehicles was banned from morning to night to prevent possible terror attacks.

The Jharkhand government used the occasion to launch a scheme to provide iodised salt at 50 paise a packet to poor families.
