Bangalore: External Affairs Minister S M
Krishna on Saturday said Karnataka Lokayukta Sanotsh Hegde, the
anti-corruption watchdog who tendered his resignation, should
reconsider his decision.
"I am deeply concerned about Justice Santosh Hegde`s
resignation. I am trying to plead with him to reconsider his
decision", he told reporters here.
Krishna said "I think Santosh Hegde should reconsider his
decision because he has got prestige, stature and objectivity
of the office that he holds".
He said Karnataka Lokayukta had always drawn national
attention in whatever they have done and hoped Hegde "will
concede (to his request)".
On whether the state government should appeal to Hegde to
rethink his decision, Krishna said "I think the BJP government
for its own sake and for its own stature should appeal to him
to reconsider the decision".
Hegde tendered his resignation to Governor H R Bhardwaj on
June 23 citing BJP`s government`s "indifferent attitude"
towards fighting corruption.
