Chouhan govt rejects demand for CBI probe in MPPEB scam

Madhya Pradesh government today rejected the demand for a CBI inquiry into the MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.

Indore: Madhya Pradesh government today rejected the demand for a CBI inquiry into the MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.

The MPPEB scam came to light in July this year after alleged irregularities were found in the state`s Pre-Medical Test (PMT) and in recruitment for various government posts, including contractual teachers.

"Madhya Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) is conducting the probe in a perfect manner as directed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. So, there is no need for recommending a CBI probe into the matter," state Cabinet minister Kailash Vijayawargiya told reporters here.
There is no reason for anyone to doubt the intentions of the government in the matter as the STF has not even spared former minister Laxmikant Sharma in the case, he said.

The Chief Minister in a recent interaction with his Cabinet colleagues directed them to ensure implementation of "zero-tolerance" policy towards corruption and also keep a close watch on the activities of their personal staff and departmental officials, Vijayawargiya said.
He also targeted Union Minister of State for Power and Congress Assembly Poll Campaign Committee Chairman, Jyotiraditya Scindia for making tall claim of forming government in MP.

"Scindia was unable to save even his own Gwalior-Chambal region from the Shivraj wave," Vijaywargiya remarked.
