Panchyat member, brother-in-law shot dead in MP

Chhatarpur (MP): A district panchayat
member and his brother in-law was shot dead over political
rivalry at village Nathpur near here, police said today.

District Panchayat Member Mahendra Patel and his
brother-in-law Gopal Patel were returning home on a motorbike
last night when they were shot dead allegedly by one Dayaram
Patel and his men, police said.

An old enmity over panchayat polls between Mahendra
and Dayaram might have led to the killings, Area Sub
Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Mahendra Sikarwar said
adding 13 persons have been arrested in connection with the
case.

Further investigations were underway in the case, he
said.
