Surrendered naxals say family members often face constant fear

Naxals, who have joined the mainstream, have said their family members are under constant apprehension from the outlawed Maoists.

Gadchiroli: Naxals, who have joined the
mainstream, have said their family members are under constant
apprehension from the outlawed Maoists.

The life is difficult in jungles and when you give up
arms, the family members are under constant apprehension from
the outlawed Maoists who keep on asking the whereabouts of
the surrendered naxals, they said.
"After serving Maoists for about eight years, when I
decided to give up arms struggle and surrendered before the
police, naxals started knocking the doors of my family to
enquire about me," Dulasa alias Juru told newsmen here.

The surrendered naxals were narrating their tale of
woes before a select newsmen a night before their official
surrender during Republic Day parade where Home Minister R R
Patil welcomed them into the mainstream.

Dulasa said same is the case with everyone and
everytime. It is easy to join naxals but difficult to come out
of the den and live peacefully.
Same is the case of 19-year-old Jamuna who was lured
away by a group of women who insisted that `she should go for
some days and stay with them and if not convinced she can
return home`.

But it never happens, the teenager naxal said, adding
she was given initial training on firearm`s handling in
Gadchiroli forests itself.
