Mumbai: Restoration work at Chabad House, one of the main targets of the 26/11 terror attack, is on full swing and it would be partly opened by the second anniversary of the attack.
"The Chabad House will be opened partly on the second anniversary of the terror attack on November 26 with the completion of work on the first two floors," spokesperson
Eliran Russo told a news agency.
"The work will be completed in two-and-half to three months. We intend to come back bigger and better," he added.
Six of the occupants at the Chadad House, including Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his five-month pregnant wife Rivka, were killed by terrorists in the 2008 attacks.
Rabbi`s son Moshe, who was then two-year-old, survived the attack after being rescued by his nanny Sandra Samuel.
"The maternal (Shimon and Yehudit Rosenberg) and paternal (Rabbi Nachman and Frieda Holtzberg) grandparents of Moshe are actively involved in rebuilding the Chabad House," Russo said.
According to the plans made by the grandparents, the fifth floor of the building will have a memorial for Rabbi Holtzberg and his wife Rivka who used to stay on the same
floor.
On the donations, Russo said, "Most of the organisations that are talking to us or had promised about donations are still talking. The principal donor behind the renovation is
Samuel Nitka, president of the GRH Energy group."
Chabad House is run by a New York-based Orthodox Jewish organisation called Chabad Lubavitch. The Jewish centre resumed its activities soon after the attack, keeping its
location undisclosed owing to security concerns.
