Mumbai: A policeman was killed after his gun misfired near the US consulate here on Monday.
Constable Deepak Vitgare sustained two 9 mm bullet injuries around 7 am. He bled profusely as he was rushed to the nearby Breach Candy Hospital where he died in the afternoon.
Vitgare was posted outside a garden adjacent to the Arabian Sea, near the consulate. Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup Patnaik ordered a probe into the incident.
