Independent submits pile of 5,954 coins as security deposit

An independent candidate from Nashik Lok Sabha constituency left poll officials counting for three hours as he paid the security deposit by way of 5,954 coins.

Nashik: An independent candidate from Nashik Lok Sabha constituency left poll officials counting for three hours as he paid the security deposit by way of 5,954 coins.
Pramod Nathekar, who heads Bahujan Swarajya Mahasangh, filed his nomination at the collector`s office here yesterday.

He had brought with him 5,954 coins of various denominations, adding up to Rs 12,500.
Sources said that the staff at the collector`s office took about three hours to count the money.

Nathekar, who sells footwear, said he did not do so on purpose as the coins came from the people by way of donations.
