Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Wednesday
appointed state`s senior-most IPS officer K Subramaniam as the
new state police chief.
Subramaniam, a 1976 batch IPS officer, will take over
from Ajit Parasnis when he retires at the end of this month.
Subramaniam was Director General of Anti-Corruption
Bureau, Home Department sources said.
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner and Director General
(Housing) Sanjeev Dayal of 1977 batch of IPS will replace
Subramaniam in the ACB, sources said.
Principal secretary (Home) Pravin Dixit, an officer of
Additional DG rank, has been promoted and posted as DG
(Housing), replacing Dayal.
Parasnis, a batch-mate of Subramaniam, was on
three-month extension since June 30.
