Mumbai: A police officer has come under scanner after a minor, who delivered a baby girl, lodged a rape complaint here, police sources said on Wednesday.
According to police, a minor girl lodged a complaint at
Powai Police Station recently alleging she was raped by a man,
whose name she could not recall and did not mention in the
FIR.

"However, during the probe name of one police officer
from south Mumbai, who is suspected to have had a role in the
rape case, has surfaced. We are investigating the exact role
of the officer. The picture in the matter is not yet clear," a
senior police official said.

"The victim, who has recently delivered a baby girl, is
not in a position to say anything now. If the officer is the
one who allegedly raped her, then he would be arrested,"
sources said.

When contacted, Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal said, "An FIR was registered in the rape matter and
investigations are on to know who is behind the crime. I do
not want to say anything at this point of time."
