One held in murder case of two Mumbai lawyers

Three days after the murder of an elderly woman and her nephew, police claimed to have cracked the case.

Mumbai: Three days after the murder of an
elderly woman and her nephew, both lawyers, police on Thursday
claimed to have cracked the case with the arrest of a person
who was close to the family.

"The double murder case has been cracked and one
person has been arrested," Deputy Police Commissioner Cherring
Dorje said.

Femida Shaikh (60) and her nephew Arsh (27), both
practicing in the Bombay High Court, were found murdered in
their flat in Bhendi Bazaar here on Monday afternoon.

Police sources said the alleged killer, whose identity
was not revealed, was very close to the family and suspect
that some more people might be involved in the crime.

"There appears to be some property dispute, among
various other issues, that led to the murders," they said.

There were no signs of robbery when the police broke
open the flat and recovered the decomposed bodies, the sources
said, adding the victims` mobile phones were also left
touched.
