Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thakeray Friday
sought an explanation from Maharashtra Congress President Manikrao Thakre on the video in which the MPCC chief was seen speaking to a former minister over collection of funds for
Sonia Gandhi`s rally at Sevagram.
"Now it is out that Congress leaders have to give
money to Delhi. Manikrao should openly speak about who gives
money and to whom in Delhi," Thackeray said in an editorial in
the party mouthpiece `Saamana`.
The video, which was telecast by TV channels yesterday,
showed Thakre speaking with former minister Satish Chaturvedi
about fund collection from Congress ministers, including Chief
Minister Ashok Chavan, for the rally to be addressed by
Congress chief today.
Commenting on Congress leader Digvijay Singh refuting
any such fund collection, Thackeray said, "Nothing is possible
without sending money to Delhi. Digvijay Singh is active in
Delhi politics, so who else would know better about such
things."
Thackeray reminded Singh about state Revenue Minister
Narayan Rane`s allegations against certain Congress leaders
over fund collections two years back.
"Mumbai Congress President Kripashankar Singh allegedly
collected money in Madhu Koda case. Despite this, many leaders
like Kripashankar are holding prestigious posts in the party,"
he said.
The Sena chief alleged Congress ministers "sold" Mumbai
to builders by changing rules for sending funds to Delhi.
"Running the government has been reduced to only land
deals, and charging toll from contractors in Water Resources
department," he said.
