Academician Ajaib Singh takes oath as NCM member

Distinguished academician Ajaib Singh on Thursday took oath as a member of the National Commission of Minorities (NCM).

New Delhi: Distinguished academician Ajaib Singh on Thursday took oath as a member of the National Commission of Minorities (NCM).

Singh, who is also a former member of the Punjab Public Service Commission, had recently resigned as Head of Department of Life Long Learning and Extension at Punjab University, Chandigarh.

He took oath in the presence of NCM Chairman Wajahat Habibullah for a three-year term.

Singh has also published ten papers in international journals and presented research papers in international and national conferences.

After taking over, Singh said that he will serve "in the National Commission with utmost integrity, objectivity and will ensure that the rights of minorities are protected in India and ensure that minorities do not suffer from any injustice."

Before Singh, Air Marshal Arjan Singh, Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, H S Hanspal and Tarlochan Singh are other eminent persons from Punjab who have served as members of the National Commission for Minorities.
