Action against seven IAS officers in graft cases

The Government Wednesday said that disciplinary action was initiated against seven Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in the last three years for their alleged involvement in corruption.

New Delhi: The Government Wednesday said that disciplinary action was initiated against seven Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in the last three years for their alleged involvement in corruption.

"The data of number of officials of IAS against whom disciplinary action has been initiated is not centrally maintained.

"However, during the last three years and in the current year (till March 31, 2012), disciplinary action was initiated by the Central government against seven IAS officers (in eight cases) for alleged irregularities while working in connection with the affairs of the Central government," Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy told Lok Sabha in a written reply.

He said cases against four IAS officers were registered in 2010, two last year and one in January and March this year.

Besides, Narayanasamy said the Central Vigilance Commission has received 5,573 cases of alleged corruption in 2011. 5,327 and 5,783 complaints were received in 2010 and 2009 respectively.

Of these, 5,341, 5,522 and 5,317 complaints were disposed of in 2011, 2010 and 2009 respectively.
