New Delhi: Slamming the Aam Admi Party`s (AAP) planned protest in the national capital, one of its prominent faces and its MLA from Lakshmi Nagar Vinod Kumar Binny on Tuesday said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is protesting just to save his ministers.

Kejriwal is leading the ongoing protest here while demanding action against some Delhi Police officers over three incidents in which they alleged failed to take action and are accused of dereliction of duty.

The incidents are `negligence` of police in busting an alleged prostitution racket involving African nationals, alleged failure in nabbing those involved in a dowry death case in West Delhi and reported failure to prevent gangrape of a Danish woman near New Delhi railway station.
According to reports, at laest 11 people are injured till now in the clashes between AAP supporters and the police today.

In the back drop of the protests, the rebel AAP member Vinod Kumar Binny today also accused Kejriwal of not keeping his poll promises. The 39-year-old-MLA had also said the party has `forgotten` its ideologies and become "an opportunist outfit" after coming to power.

“Kejriwal has taken to the streets to divert attention from his faliures,” Binny said.

Binny, who had called Kejriwal a `dictator` and accused his government of cheating people, however, maintained that he would not join any other political party, including BJP or Congress.
The face-off between Delhi Police and the three-week-old Delhi government erupted after Delhi`s Law Minister Somnath Bharti accused some officers of not taking action against an alleged sex-and-drug racket involving some Ugandan nationals.

The issue escalated into a near diplomatic row after a group of Ugandans and Nigerians accused Bharti and AAP volunteers of misbehaviour. Kejriwal has defended Bharti.

Kejriwal and many other AAP supporters, who has been defying prohibitory orders and has been campaigning at the heart of the capital, close to parliament since Monday morning, spent the night huddled inside seven blankets under the stars and in blistering cold.

Meanwhile, all through the day today, AAP supporters kept raising anti-police and anti-Shinde slogans. Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had said that the Delhi government will not be given the control of Delhi Police and it will remain under MHA.

The police barricaded the area near protest venue near Rail Bhavan today from four sides. At around 3.30 pm, some 200-300 AAP volunteers broke the barricades near the Constitution Club to reach to the place where Chief Minister was holding his protest.

In response, the cops baton-charged the AAP volunteers in which around 11 AAP workers were injured, while two policemen were injured in the incident of stone-pelting.
