New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said on Friday that “consensus” has emerged among political parties against government’s Lokpal Bill draft legislation.

“I saw a consensus among almost all political parties against the Lokpal Bill draft legislation,” Jaitley said while talking to reporters after attending the all-party meet convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue.

“Most parties want an independent investigative agency which should have some administrative relationship with the Lokpal,” Jaitley further added.

He further said that political parties are also against bringing private organisations which don’t depend on grants from the government should be kept out of Lokpal’s purview.

On the time frame to get the Lokpal Bill passed, Jaitley said, “Our view is that a lot of consultations have already occurred; now it should be brought in the Budget Session.”
