New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought
the assistance of Hyderabad-based Centre for DNA
Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) in fixing modalities for
DNA test of Congress leader ND Tiwari to ascertain a
31-year-old man`s claim that he is the leader`s biological
son.
Joint Registrar Deepak Garg sought CDFD`s response to a
notice by May 2, saying the laboratory is yet to respond to
the court`s earlier notice on this count.
"As per the office report of the Delhi High Court
Registry, a reply is still awaited from the CDFD Centre. Let
the notice be issued to the head of the CDFD as to why no
reply has been sent," the court said in its fresh notice.
The court fixed the matter for further hearing on May
6 by Justice Gita Mittal, who had asked the laboratory earlier
to fix the modalities for then test on 85-year-old Tiwari.
The response of the laboratory was required as to how it
would go about the test and how much time will it take in
ascertaining the outcome, Joint Registrar Garg had said.
The Joint Registrar would record evidence to enable the
regular court to decide the plea of Rohit Shekhar that he
be declared the son of the veteran Congress leader.
Justice Mittal had modified an earlier order asking CDFD,
instead of Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB),
to conduct the DNA test.
