New Delhi: Early childhood education, adolescence and urbanisation and child rights would be focus of a high-level meeting on South-South Cooperation for Child Rights to be held here in October.

Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath has invited ministers of 36 countries from the Asia-Pacific region to attend the programme which focuses on accelerating development of child rights, a top Ministry official said on Friday.

Recently, a team from the WCD ministry led by Joint Secretary Vivek Joshi had gone to China for a preparatory meeting in this regard.

During the meeting, the country representatives decided the agenda to be discussed during the meet which include early childhood education, adolescence and urbanisation and child rights.

All the aspects of these three issues would be covered during the meet, the official said.

Ten other countries had also attended the preparatory meeting, he added.

South-South cooperation involves the transfer of knowledge, skills and resources between developing countries.

During the meet, the various participating countries would share their experiences and successes and their successful strategies which others can follow instead of developing a policy from scratch.
