Srinagar: A day after foiling an infiltration
bid from across the border, a top army commander here briefed
the state governor N N Vohra this evening about the internal
and external security situation in Kashmir, especially the
continuing attempts of infiltration from across the border.

General Officer Commanding, 15 corps, Lt Gen N C Marwah
called on the Governor and gave a detailed briefing to him
about internal and external security situation in Kashmir
valley, particularly on the continuous attempts of
infiltration from across the Line of Control, an official
spokesman told PTI after the meeting held at Raj Bhavan.

Army had shot dead two militants, part of an infiltration
group, in Keran sector of Kupwara district in the wee hours
yesterday.

The governor also discussed with Marwah the broad contours
of the forthcoming Amarnath yatra.

Appreciating the security arrangements already made,
Vohra observed that the schedule of sector-wise coordination
meetings, also involving the district civil and police
administration had also been drawn up and the interactions
would commence in the coming days", the spokesman said.

The annual Amarnath yatra, likely to commence in June, is
being undertaken from the traditional pahalgam and shortest
Baltal routes.

Over four lakh pilgrims visited the holy cave shrine,
situated in south Kashmir, last year.
