New Delhi: Monsoon revival made weather
pleasant in several parts of North India for the second
consecutive day on Wednesday including the national capital, even as
floods continue to threaten Uttar Pradesh where major rivers
continued to swell.
Many Delhiites would have loved to extend their
morning walk as mercury remained below normal levels through
out the day.
The minimum was recorded at 27.8 degree Celsius while
the maximum was at 34 degrees in the national capital.
The city received 2.4 mm of rains during the day, the
MeT ofice said.
The MeT office has predicted a cloudy sky with brief
spells of rain for tomorrow.
The rains led to minor traffic jams and water logging
in some areas.
In Uttar Pradesh, major rivers continued to flow
around the danger mark, with Yamuna crossing it in Prayag Ghat
(Mathura), Central Water Commission report said.
During the past 24 hours 60.4 mm rainfall was recorded
in Fafamau (Allabahad), 40.6 mm in Gumatia (Kannauj) and 42.6
in Ankinghat (Kanpur).
In Punjab and Haryana, though rains continued to
remain elusive, the maximum temperature hovered at below
normal levels and humidity ranged between 65 to 85 per cent,
the MeT office said.
Hisar was hottest in the region with a high of 39
degrees Celsius followed by 34.7 degrees at Ambala, 34 degrees
each at Patiala and Ludhiana, 33.5 degrees at Chandigarh and
33.4 degrees in Amritsar.
The maximum at Amritsar was four notches below normal
followed two notches each below normal at Chandigarh and
Ludhiana.
Rains also lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh, bringing
down the day temperatures.
Paonta in Sirmaur district received 87 mm rains while
Sujanpur Tira and Palampur received 80 mm and 53 mm of rains,
followed by Palampur 53 mm, Baijanath 44 mm, Renuka 16 mm,
Bangana 15 mm ,Dharamsala 10.
The maximum day temperature dropped from 25.5 degree
to 22.5 degree in Shimla.
Una was the hottest in the region with a maximum of
35.6 degree against 36.3 degree yesterday.
The local MeT office has predicted heavy rains at some
places during the next 48 hours due to western disturbances
over North Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir.
